Efficient Morning Reset: Simplify Your Cleaning Routine

Hey there, welcome to my morning routine – the time when I take charge and give my house a refresh without the hassle of a checklist. It's all about staying in control while keeping things flexible.

I've tried my fair share of cleaning methods in the past, including the Flylady approach with its endless tasks. But truth be told, it just wasn't cutting it for me. I found myself drained and frustrated, constantly trying to keep up with a never-ending list.

So, I decided to switch things up and adopt a more intuitive approach. And let me tell you, it's made all the difference. Here's how:

Five Minutes Matters: I used to dread the amount of time it would take to complete some of my tasks. But then I realized that I didn't have to spend hours perfecting them. Even five minutes of focused effort can yield significant results. It's all about making progress, one step at a time.

Good Enough is Good Enough: Perfectionism is overrated. Instead of obsessing over every little detail, I focus on getting tasks to a satisfactory state and then moving on. It's about efficiency and practicality, not perfection.

The Timer is My Wingman: Setting a timer helps me stay on track and avoid getting lost in one task for the entire morning. It's a simple yet effective way to keep myself accountable and ensure that I make the most of my time.

Now, let me walk you through one of my mornings:

I start by setting a timer, usually for an hour, and diving into my tasks with purpose. I have a notepad handy to jot down any ideas that come to mind, but for the most part, I rely on my intuition to guide me.

Today, for example, I noticed that my linen closet could use some labels. I was having a hard time finding what I was looking for. I had been meaning to order labels, but I never got around to it. So I took action and quickly labeled the bins – just some card-stock, a pen, and packing tape did the trick. A small but impactful change that will save me time and effort in the long run.

While I was gathering up my laundry, I took a second to "make" the bed. We are finding it really important to keep our decorative pillows off the floor with a new puppy. But didn't take the time to put them exactly where they belonged, in fact, I just threw the pillows on top. It may not be perfectly made, but it's functional – and that's what matters most.

Next up, I tackled putting away a delivery from Thrive. I wasn't looking forward to it, but it needed to be done. And hey, repurposing the box as a donation bin for the garage was just a bonus!

As I moved through my morning routine, I kept an eye out for any areas that needed attention. A quick clean of the microwave and dishwasher, after noticing they both could smell fresher than they did. Ensured that my kitchen was cleaner and ready for the day ahead.

Before I knew it, my hour was up, and I had accomplished a lot. My house was tidy, my chores were done, and I felt a sense of satisfaction knowing that I had taken control of my environment.

Looking back, I can see why the Flylady method didn't work for me. It lacked the flexibility and practicality that I needed to thrive. But this new approach? It's empowering, efficient, and effective – and I couldn't be happier with the results.

So, if you're tired of rigid cleaning routines and ready to take charge of your environment, I encourage you to give it a try. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
