The holiday season is a whirlwind of joy, festivities, and the ever-so-familiar mom chaos.
Before that last strand of tinsel is carefully packed away and the echoes of seasonal melodies completely fade, there's one more act to consider—preparing for the next year.
Reflect, Simplify, While Keeping It Simple
Before diving into the new year, take a moment to reflect. Grab a cup of your favorite brew and spend just 15 minutes jotting down your thoughts. A simple brain dump can serve as a huge tool for your future self. What worked? What didn't? Is there something you didn't get to do, or something you wish you had skipped?
Free Downloadable Holiday Planner
If you're looking to dive a bit deeper and don't know where to start, consider downloading my free downloadable holiday planner. I started off with just a few notes, and after several years of building up my planner, I have designed a simplified version for you! Simply print only the pages you need and create a customizable reference point for you and your family.
It includes a Brain Dump sheet to jumpstart your ideas, a planning sheet for hosting or traveling, weekly planners leading up to the holiday, and so much more. Whether it's tracking gift ideas, planning events, or simply creating a checklist, this planner can be your holiday sidekick.
Remember, the key is to make your holiday planning work for you. Whether it's a few handwritten notes or a more structured planner, you're creating a resource that will help you navigate the festive seasons to come.
BUT WAIT - Don't Skip this Step
Mark your calendar when you are going to reference it! I like to do mid-October, just for a mini reminder and see if I need to prioritize anything before December hits. So be sure to keep it somewhere you are going to be able to find it. For me, I have a three-ring binder that houses all my holiday notes, stored in my filing system. But if that's not something you have set up yet, consider keeping it in with the holiday decorations—just be sure to label which box you put it in!
As we wrap up this season, let's unwrap the stress and gift ourselves the joy of preparation. Here's to less-stressed celebrations and creating traditions that truly matter.
